Born January 29th, 1960,
Gia Carangi became one of the most admired and unique American models of the late 70's and 80's. She died on November 18th, 1986 to AIDS. Not many cases were known back then of a woman dying of what would become one of the biggest epidemics of our time. Gia did not fit the typical stereo type of who would have this dreadful disease. Back in the eighties, no one knew anything about AIDS and labeled it as the gay disease. Her addiction to heroin and sharing used needles brought her to her death at the young age of 26. Gia became one of the first famous women to die of this disease.
