Blow By Blow

I am currently reading "Blow By Blow", the biography of fashion icon Isabella Blow. It's written by Detmar Blow, Isabella's husband. It's a great read and it gives great insight inside the fashion world and how Isabella was a huge part of changing the industry. The book also details her relationship with Alexander McQueen, which I found very very interesting. And especially her struggles with mental illness and how it can destroy everyone around you. Isabella had her finger on the pulse constantly and discovered many extraordinary talent in models and designers. It's a sad story but an inspiring one...

Tom Munro

The photographer's book is called "Tom Munro" featuring all the famous faces who have shaped and cultivated his career.

Munro started as an assistant to renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel, but two years later he took his connections and ventured out on his own to make a name for himself. His first professional break was shooting Johnny Depp in 2001.

As a self-proclaimed "introvert", Munro has become a favorite of many celebrities, as they request him for their shoots on a regular basis. Munro Through his years behind the lens, some celebrities, most notably, Madonna, have become more than his subjects and now count him amongst her few close friends. She even has a quote in the beginning of the book, "To have your picture taken by Munro is kind of like smoking a bubblegum cigarette."

The Prada Lip

Prada Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign
Photography: Steve Meisel

The Orange-Red lip that I had mentioned in a previous post is partly why I love these images! The design of this dress is very Vintage/Art-Deco.
